David Navarrete grew up in a suburban town in central New Jersey. David was always adventurous and entrepreneurial. At age 7 he would take his mom's tampons and turn them into 'super spit-ball' shooters, selling them to classmates and marketing them as the weapon of choice for 5th graders.
School never really interested David, but he always managed to skate through with A's & B's. By his freshman year in high school, all he wanted to do was get drunk, smoke pot, and get laid. He wanted to be a rockstar, live life, experience freedom, and hold no regrets. He became Mr. Popular; he experienced sex, drugs, raves -- people looked up to him, teachers either hated him or loved him, girls adored him, and everyone wanted to know him.
After miraculously graduating high school with 62 absentee days his senior year, David realized his rockstar days were over. He packed his things and headed to New York City, where he couch- surfed until he could get on his feet. Despite having only one contact in NYC at the time, he was quickly able to land a job as a host at the world famous restauraunt Asia De Cuba. He struggled to get an apartment, but with persistance finally found a place in Gramercy. Having a place to live and a source of income, David wrote out a plan of attack. He wanted to become a DJ, a club promoter, a professional model, a movie director, a writer, an entrepreneur, and most importantly he wanted to change the world for the better.
By the end of 2003 (two months after first moving to NYC), Dave was hired as a resident DJ in the VIP room at Show, one of the hottest, trendiest clubs in NYC. He signed with New York Model Management, one of the top five modeling agencies in the world. After his first casting, David was put on 'option' for the exclusive Jil Sander runway show in Milan. He began working for Field Day Music Festival, the largest festival production company on the east coast.
By the spring of 2004, Dave was featured as a model in several magaziness and participated in fashion week runway shows. Field Day CEO Andrew Dreskin recognized his entrepreneurial potential, and helped Dave produce a large electronica event called AIRBORNE which attracted world class hard trance talent to NYC, including Germany's top DJs Dumonde (JamX and DeLeon) and London's DJ Lange to Club Shelter. David also co-wrote a screenplay with producer Ned Schenck, a film about his 'dazed-and confused' high school experiences in an as yet 'untitled' generation; shot his first short film Hunting Bears; and began work on his first novel.
-- David Navarrete's response to a casting notice for the film The Pigeon Kickers --
"Hey What's up, I'm Dave, an 18 year old prep from central jersey. I've done both modeling and acting work before. I think this would be a great way to showcase some of my skills. I can really play much of any roll, I consider myself very talented. If you would be looking to capture the "true" me... it would be a character that is hip on the social scene, relaxed, down to earth, involved in the club scene -- sexy and confident. I really don't know what you're looking for so I feel the best way to get a feel for me would be either to meet or talk with me. I have attached a few recent photos. Thanks for the read.."
