My friends were paying for forties of Budweiser in a corner deli when Lukas walked in to buy cigarettes. I'd never seen him before in the East Village - a skinny kid with shaggy Dandyish black hair, wearing ridiculously tight vintage plaid pants (circa 1970s), cowboy boots, a white studded belt, and a black t-shirt with short sleeves rolled up revealing a tattoo with the simple words 'Rock -N- Roll.' As we waited outside for our friends, Lukas stepped out of the store and lit a cigarette. We started talking (my friend Noam bummed a smoke), and eventually made plans to meet a week later to take some photos in an industrial section of Williamsburg bordering the East River called DUMBA (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge). Lukas seemed remarkably comfortable in front of the camera. I told him to pose as if there was an annoying pervert watching him, and he glared over toward the camera with an intimidating, piercing glare.

Lukas is the son of composer Andre Previn and half-brother to Sun Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow from her prior marriage to Andre. As a teenage kid, Lukas wrote a song that he performed with his father on the album 'Live at the Jazz Standard,' playing classical and jazz guitar. Lukas is also credited with recording with Gloria Estefan's Christmas album. Lukas currently plays guitar in the New York-based rock band The AKA's.
